Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with farmer representatives for the first time after weeks of nationwide protests over delayed farm aid, rising production costs and the EU-Mercosur trade deal. The government offered fuel tax cuts, lower electricity costs and compensation for breeders in an effort to ease tensions.

However, many farmers refused to attend the talks, continuing road and border blockades that disrupted trade and transport. Protesters accused the government of failing to represent all farming sectors and warned that the Mercosur agreement could devastate Greek agriculture. Mitsotakis said prolonged blockades could no longer be tolerated.

#GreekFarmers
#GreeceProtests
#Mitsotakis
